Open Road

We stand against time
And life flies past us
 We drive down the highway
Hoping death doesn’t pull us over
But we can’t avoid him
Even if he by chance misses us
He won’t miss the grandpa
Slowing down in front
 Before we know it
We are slowing down ourselves
And we too reach our destination
And death has hold of us
But death isn’t scary
As we once thought him
He takes us by the hand
And gently guides us
Instead of flying down life’s highway
We stroll down deaths lane
We can breathe easy
And be at peace
As we let him take the lead
